As a painter, I choose to celebrate the beauty of the female body on my canvas, enlisting techniques drawn from both the past and present.
Initially, I was very much influenced by some of the old masters’ techniques such as under-painting and glazing.   To these, I added more contemporary measures such as a unique dotted brush stroke in a controlled overlay.
In the portraits of these women, I seek to capture their emotions and character as well as to reflect their dignity as human beings.  For example, in the canvas entitled “Friendship”, the deeply troubled relationship is conveyed  through the avoidance of eye contact.   The boyish haircut reflects a contemporary “cool” style, whereas holding hands does not.
A further case in point is the double portrait painting.   One Oriental woman wears a traditional costume while the other is in contemporary, modern, westernized attire.  Drawing on inner judgment, in an atmosphere of conflict, there is an attempt to distinguish between the right approach and the wrong one.
