I was very much influenced by some of the methodology of the old masters, including their under painting and glazing techniques. At the same time, I seek out contemporary ideas to impart a sense of uniqueness as well as to evoke curiosity and excitement.
Juxtaposing hands with colorful balls serves to generate that additional curiosity and spirited level for which I strive. For the viewer attuned to the challenge of contemporary art, it fosters such questioning as: What’s the relationship between one figure and another? What’s the relationship between the hands and the balls?
Apart from the playful excitement thus generated, there’s also a measure of controversy in this series.
